The first visit to our dental clinic

  • February 11, 2020
  • Admin

The dentists at the Dents Mon Quartier clinic in Lasalle are always happy to welcome new patients so they can benefit of quality dental care. However, it is important to know that these first visits to our clinic require us to pay special attention to certain aspects related to your oral condition and your general health. Our team makes sure to optimize its interventions to offer you care perfectly adapted to your situation.

A first visit at our clinic: an important step for your smile

When it comes to our health and the professionals who care for it, it is important to select those in whom we can place our trust. Visiting us for the first time, regardless of your age or the state of your teeth, means that you will meet our most qualified dental professionals, and you will find that they use modern technologies in each of their procedures. You can rest assured that our team will do everything in its power to help you maintain good oral health, helping you make informed choices during your regular dental health follow-ups!

Here are the special aspects related to the first appointments at our dental clinic.

The medical form: an essential tool

On a first appointment, our secretaries will provide you with important documentation about our clinic and our appointment policy. We invite you to consult it carefully to learn about our philosophy and values.

We will then have you complete a medical questionnaire. The purpose of the latter is to enable us to understand your dental profile, to know the general health conditions that can affect the health of your teeth and oral tissues as well as to better guide how we provide our care.

Topics include: your general health, known medications  and allergies, risk factors, family history and habits (alcohol consumption, smoking, etc.).

The purpose of this form is not to make a judgment on your habits, far from it! Rather, it is to allow our team to have an overall picture of your situation, and to highlight certain aspects to which to pay special attention during the dental examination.

The full dental exam

The dentist assigned to you will then perform a thorough dental examination. Whether it is for a routine check-up (exam and cleaning) or for the purpose of receiving emergency care, this examination remains mandatory, as it is the only way for the dentist to better understand your condition and make a diagnosis.

Here are the observed elements and steps taken during this comprehensive dental examination:

  • Visual examination of teeth, but also soft tissues of the mouth (gums, palate, tongue, cheeks, etc.).

  • Examination of temporomandibular joints [TMJ].

  • Dental x-rays to observe teeth, dental roots, jaws, etc.

  • Oral cancer screening using VelScope

  • Periodontal measurements, using a specialized tool, to detect the presence of gum problems.

  • Etc.

A personalized treatment plan

Whether you are looking for general care to maintain your oral health, whether for cosmetics, catering or emergency care, our professionals will complete the full examination. Your dentist then elaborates an individualized treatment plan, which he will talk to you about in depth to explain each step of the plan and the costs associated with them. This treatment plan is fully customized, it is only for you and it is based on the many information gathered through the medical questionnaire and the complete dental examination.

Are you looking for a new dental clinic in or around LaSalle? The Team of Dents Mon Quartier will welcome you to share its expertise with you. We will always take the time to fully understand your situation in order to offer you the best care.
