The diode laser: a state-of-the-art technology for your dental health

At Dents Mon Quartier, we know that the use of the latest technologies in the field of dentistry is a token of quality for our patients. As they rely on us to take care of the health of their smile, we are committed to using modern equipment during each of our interventions. Among these, our dental team is proud to count among its dental arsenal a technology that is very useful for many interventions: the laser diode.

Discover the dental care in which our dentists use the diode laser, as well as the advantages it presents during our interventions.

The use of diode laser in dentistry

The word LASER is an acronym for Laser Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Its use is now widespread in many areas of modern medicine, and dentistry is no exception.

The laser produces a very concentrated light beam, which can be applied precisely to the area to be treated. This technology is used in dentistry for the treatment of soft tissue, including the treatment of gum disease or surgeries of the latter. Indeed, the laser is used as the blade of a scalpel, but it allows to incise tissues without coming into direct contact with them. It allows to perform non-invasive treatments. In addition, the laser can significantly limit bleeding when used, since it allows to cauterize (seal) the blood vessels at the same time as an incision.

Thanks to its antibacterial action, the laser can be used for various types of surgery, in addition to soft tissue treatment. We use it specially to prepare surgical sites to eliminate all the bacteria that are present, in order to limit the risk of infection and postoperative pain.

What are the benefits of laser in dentistry?

Our dentists are happy to bring this technology to the service of our patients, because of the benefits it offers. Here are the main ones:

  • Decreased treatment time for the patient, better cost-effectiveness for our team;
  • The laser allows us to perform precise and minimally invasive procedures;
  • It limits bleeding and pain during procedures;
  • It limits postoperative symptoms and improves patient recovery (better healing);
  • It helps reduce anxiety in some patients.

In which interventions do we use the laser diode?

The laser is a versatile tool in dentistry, and we use its advantages in several types of interventions, including:

  • The treatment of gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis): the laser eliminates bacteria that are responsible for gum disease, to reduce inflammation of the tissues;
  • Surgery of the gums: the laser can be used during surgery such as gingivoplasty or gingivectomy to correct the shape of the gums, for a more aesthetic smile. The incision of the gums can be done almost painlessly;
  • The treatment of canker sores (ulcers): this mild problem can be very painful. We can treat canker sores with very little pain;
  • Biopsies: we can take a sample of oral tissue using the laser for laboratory analysis;
  • Prepare a surgical site: before performing a dental surgery (implant placement, extraction, transplant, etc.), we can well disinfect the site of surgery using the laser to promote the success of the latter.

Our team ensures that you benefit from the benefits of using the laser in each of the interventions where we believe it is relevant. Whatever the nature of your dental needs, to benefit from the expertise of our team and our advanced technologies, plan an appointment with our team without delay!
